We want your storage experience to be simple, safe and stress-free. To make sure everyone is protected, there are a few things that can’t be stored in our units.
Dangerous or hazardous items
For safety reasons, you can't store:
Explosives, fireworks or ammunition
Firearms or weapons
Petrol, diesel, oil, gas bottles, propane, kerosene or other fuels
Combustible or flammable substances (including engines, car parts, or machinery with fuel inside)
Batteries or compressed gases
Chemicals, solvents, fertiliser, pesticides, toxic waste, radioactive or biological materials
Asbestos or anything containing asbestos
Food, plants or animals
To keep pests and mould away, you can't store:
Fresh or perishable food and drink
Plants, seeds or soil
Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures
Illegal or unlawful goods
It probably goes without saying, but you can't store:
Illegal drugs or substances
Stolen property or items illegally obtained
Counterfeit or unlicensed goods
Items for which VAT has not been paid
Valuables (not recommended)
You're welcome to store most household and business items, but we don't recommend using your unit for things like:
Cash, jewellery or precious metals
Jewellery, furs or art objects.
Antiques, collection pieces or irreplaceable items
Cash, securities, stocks or shares
Important documents like passports
These items may not be covered by insurance, so it’s best to keep them elsewhere.
Other things to avoid
Wet or damp items that could cause mould or damage
Items that produce strong smells or fumes
Rubbish, refuse or waste materials
Vehicles or motorcycles that are uninsured, unregistered, or contain fuel
Electrical appliances that need to be plugged in (heaters, kettles, fridges etc).
And of course, storage units can’t be used for accommodation — no living, sleeping or working inside.
If you're ever unsure about whether something is okay to store, just ask our team - we're happy to help.
